The Japan Symposium on Rock Mechanics, organized by The Japanese Society for Rock Mechanics (JSRM) and co-organized by the following four organizing societies (Japan Society of Civil Engineering, The Japanese Geotechnical Society, The Mining and Materials Processing Institute of Japan, The Society of Materials Science, Japan), has been held every three or four years since 1964. This symposium, JSRM2017, will be held in Kobe-City from 10th to 12th of January, 2017. In addition, the 3rd symposium of Japan Future Initiative for Rock Mechanics (J-FIRMs) will be held on January 9th.

In JSRM2017, we will focus on various novel techologies related to rock engineering, energy, resources, disaster prevention and infrastructures. Additionally, we will focus on the problems the humanity will be facing in future, and provide opportunities to have active discussions and share the knowledge on the new developments of researches and technologies of rock mechanics and rock engineering.

For the participation on JSRM2017, we welcome various topics related to rock mechanics and rock engineering. We also welcome the topics from various academic areas such as earth sciences, planetary sciences, space sciences, and so on. We will be pleased if all participants can obtain new useful information for the innovation in rock engineering, and strengthen the relationships between other participants from this symposium. We are sincerely looking forward to your participation.
